Leslie observes the skybox
Aug 27 2009, 7:34 PM EDT
It is a woodland setting. One hears creatures out of sight (birds and insects). A number of people are sitting around a fire.If I scan downwards sideways or up I find mysel f in midair, but an illusion of space is maintained inside the box due to the backdrops on the sides. all in all a very effective illusion. I rather imagine I would smell the fire and typical background odors of a forest at night... Do you find this valuable? |

1. RE: Leslie observes the skybox: and goes on to observe the sandbox
Aug 27 2009, 7:35 PM EDT
I noticed in the sandbox that there is an awful lot that I dont usually notice, because I am usuallyintent either on building or on what people are doing there. There are wind chimes, wthe wind blowing, the eagle crying -- alot of sound which gives a sense of place. There are trees and buildign s visible all around that dont really normally intrude into my attention.Do you find this valuable? |

Leslie, I beleive you've "captured it" ! I couldn't have described the environment better had I been there myself (sorry I was late to class) And just to think that our instructor has had a hand in creating this wonderful site! Ray (Nic)

Others have fuller descriptions... some class members are much more poetic than I :-) The Skybox was built by Mali Young, not MissAnnie: MissAnnie's Ed 531 class built another interesting skybox at EdTech...

Gee, quite sorry with the "miss-quote" , if there's time, could you pass me a link to: Miss Annies site? Appreciate that Leslie and thanks again for the fast reply.Ray (Nic) PS: I wanted to post a photo of our EDTC 6325 class from UTB's trip to the Science School, yet had a few difficulities with sizing and so forth. The wine & bonfire added a cozy touch to the venture! Do you find this valuable? |

Hi, we did build a 'classroom' for EdTech 531 "Teaching and Learning in Virtual Worlds" or rather it evolved throughout the class. It's full of interesting stuff. There's also a Tropical Sound Garden that I built on the island. Just ask me for the landmarks.
